Latest Release
Version 0.1.2 (September 2026)
Interface
- New look shared with the other PyPottery applications, with locally served fonts and icons
- The Info window shows the version, a ready-to-copy citation and the hardware the app detected (CPU cores, and the GPU or CPU Only); a Guide button opens a short manual inside the app, and in-app confirmation dialogs replace the browser pop-ups
- Import and Export of whole projects as ZIP files, from the Projects tab
- The header shows the open project (click it to go back to the Projects tab), and reloading the page reopens the project you were working on
- The project cards always show the real number of images in the project
- Images can be added from the Setup tab by drag and drop, and a SAM 2 model that is not on the computer is only downloaded after you confirm, with a progress bar
Segmentation
- The rotation center is previewed as a dashed crosshair with its coordinates while you move the cursor
- The Undo button and
Ctrl+Zwork: they remove the last point or polygon vertex - Every segment has an SVG / PNG format that you can change from the list, together with its category; masks drawn by hand carry a Manual badge
- New Line Threshold (Black Level) setting to keep only dark lines or to capture faint strokes
- Changing tool or image while a mask is being edited is blocked, with a message, so the edit is not lost
SVG Editor
- Continuation Line tool: draws the missing part of a fractured profile along a circle fitted through the break point, first on the outer face (mirrored to the other side) and then on the inner, fracture-section face. The length is adjustable and the lines go in their own Reconstruction layer
- Internal Details tool: straight lines, such as a marked rim, optionally constrained to horizontal or vertical
- Selection with a drag box, arrow-key nudging (10 px with
Shift), movement constrained withShift, panning withSpace, a right-click menu, andV/S/A/Dto switch tool
Post-Processing
- Live Preview Studio: a preview of the drawing that updates while you change the settings, with a random-drawing button, a comparison with the original, zoom, two backgrounds, and the number of vertices before and after the simplification
- The symmetry and diameter lines are black, like the rest of the drawing, in the preview and in every export (they were gray)
- Stroke widths for every category, including the Reconstruction lines, with a Defaults button, and a reorganized export panel (formats, resolution, background, ZIP archive with optional subfolders per category)
- Exporting without the ZIP option now saves the files in the project’s
exports/folder (before, nothing was delivered), and the SVG, PNG and JPG of a drawing always go in the same category subfolder
Fixes and stability
- The browser opens on the port the app is really running on, also when you change it with the
PORTvariable - The first start no longer blocks on a silent 184 MB download before the page can open: the page loads at once and offers the download with a progress bar
- The Info window reports Apple Silicon as running on the CPU, which is what SAM 2 does there
- The model sizes shown in the interface and in the download prompt are now the real ones (Tiny ~156 MB, Small ~184 MB, Base+ ~323 MB, Large ~898 MB)
- The app listens only on the local computer (
127.0.0.1), as the other PyPottery applications do - The app shuts down by itself a few seconds after you close its browser tab
- Console messages are written as UTF-8 on Windows, and crashes are reported with a timestamp and the name of the thread that failed, which makes problems easier to diagnose
Version History
Earlier versions (0.1.0 and 0.1.1)
The first versions published through the automatic releases (July 2026), with the SAM 2 segmentation, the vectorization pipeline with profile mirroring, the SVG editor and the batch export. They were released without written notes, so the list above compares the current version with them.
